Ella Mahler is a Seattle dance artist working at the intersections of experimental dance and visual performance. Her recent choreography received the SeattleDances DanceCrush Award, and Velocity Dance Center’s Audience Choice Award. She was also selected for On the Boards’ NW New Works Festival and is an Open Flight Resident Artist.
Ella is the 2018-2019 Velocity Made in Seattle Artist, where she will premier her new evening-length work in March 2019. Her previous work has been presented nationally and commissioned by Seattle Art Museum, Bellingham Repertory Dance, and Relay Dance Collective. Ella’s THIS (series) - a trilogy of duets - was presented by On the Boards, Northwest Film Forum, Velocity, Base, Yaw Theatre, the Firehouse Performing Arts Center, and Western Washington University.
Ella has toured nationally with Kuntz & Company (2010-2015), and performed for Catherine Cabeen - Hyphen (2010-2013). As a member of Bellingham Repertory Dance (2010-2013), she performed original works by Joshua Beamish, Mark Haim, Pablo Cornejo, Dionne Noble, among others. Ella has also performed for Amelia Reeber, Bianca Cabrera, Emily Johnson, and Paige Barnes. She holds a BFA from Western Washington University.
